2020 New Orleans Reunion Canceled

October 7th to 11th

Dear 463rd Bomb Group Historical Society Member, 

We are writing with heavy hearts to inform you that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have officially canceled the 2020 Reunion in New Orleans this coming October. This was not an easy decision and was the result of discussions amongst the group officers who have been monitoring the situation. We are all in agreement that there is too much danger and uncertainty to have a group gathering this fall. So that you understand our reasoning, here are some of the more important mitigating factors that brought us to this decision. 

1) The average age of our group is in the upper 60s. This puts us at much higher risk of contracting the virus. 

2) The extent of the safe travel required (Airports, Shuttles, Hotels, Busses, Museums, Restaurants, etc.), already difficult in the best of situations, was considered too high of a risk. 

3) The difficulty in practicing social distancing for any of our events (Bus rides, Museum visits, Hospitality Room, Banquet, etc.).  

Due to increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented situation. Of course, we are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our members. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. 

We are currently working with the hotel in New Orleans to move our group's reunion to the fall of 2021, so stay tuned for more information as we move forward. Up to date information will be included in the upcoming newsletters, on the 463rd Bomb Group web site and on the "Kids of the 463rd Bomb Group" facebook page.
