When the group decided to begin our “stand-alone” reunions again, we weren’t
sure what to expect. We were prepared for everything from general apathy to
wild enthusiasm. Well, it was a success! We believe the people who attended
the reunion in Denver this past October would say it was a truly wonderful
experience. As with any reunion, there were some slight bumps that need to
be worked out. But what it produced was a feeling for how important these
reunions are to us, the second and third generations. We will continue these
reunions as long as there is interest in them.

In 1980, when these reunions first began, there weren’t a lot of ways to
contact people. The internet didn’t exist. There was no social media.
Landline telephones were hung in the kitchen and included long cords! Gene
Parker, 775th, the first President of the group, began putting announcements
for the group reunions in Veteran magazines, such as American Legion, DAV,
and the 15th Army Air Force newsletter, among others. The word got around
fast and, during the groups’ heyday, there were over 400 attendees, most of
	them vets.

We’ve come a long way from then. Time has taken it’s toll on the group and
there are few 463rd veterans still with us. None that are up to travelling.
As time goes by the history of the group is slowly fading. It’s up to us,
the “Kids,” the second and third generations, to do something about that. To
keep it as living history instead of ancient history. These men, our
fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, etc., were part of the greatest
generation. The true heroes of the 20th century. Without their efforts and
sacrifices, the world would be a radically different place today. We ask
that you stay involved with the group and attend the reunions when possible.
	And feedback is always welcome!
